The Front Range Toll Road is a privately-funded, state-of-the-art corridor designed to provide an alternative for commercial truck traffic, railroads and hazardous waste transportation around the heavily-congested I-25 urban areas. The corridor would also lessen the dangers of collisions at railroad crossings. As proposed, traffic would travel at higher speeds (85 miles per hour) along the 210-mile route from Wellington in Larimer County to just south of Pueblo.
No exact route has been determined for the toll road, but it will be located within the 12-mile wide gray shaded area in the map below. The intent of the project is to create the least amount of disruption possible for residents and the environment, so it will be located as far from developed areas as possible, with open space on either side of the road.
